WWW: You have made a very positive start in GCSE Media – well done! Your fruit bowl is superb – I really like the image you’ve used as the base to your colour palette and it’s given you a very interesting take on the ‘urban’ palette. Keep up the good work!

EBI:  One thing to address – you have missed the second half of the denotation and connotation work. You’ve analysed the Water Aid advert but then needed to choose an advert of your own to analyse. Go back and finish this when you get a moment and we can update your tracker to green.

The key aspect to work on if we want to aim for the higher grades is depth and detail in our written work – for example, the ‘connotation’ and ‘analysis’ paragraphs for denotation and connotation. Aim for an extended paragraph analysing a range of meanings that are created in the text and what effect this might have on the audience.

The final area I would suggest working on is keeping an eye on your written English. Things like capital letters, apostrophes and sentence structure are important in written communication and getting them perfect in your blog is a great preparation for the later exams.
